Retired 12/25/00

This is the 4th Holiday Lollie. It was very intimidating trying to design a new Holiday Lollie that could stand up with the earlier ones in the series. I wanted something very special to celebrate the year 2000, as well. Then I came up with the idea of "gilding the lollie" (my apologies to Shakespeare)!

Imagine—a golden spindle! This lollie is painted a sumptuous, rich, dark green, then cloaked in a dazzlingly bright gold metallic foil. The result is something you could expect to see in the burial chambers of an ancient Egyptian Pharaoh. On top of the whorl is a stylized poinsettia. It has 6 green leaves veined in gold paint, and 6 red petals dusted in ruby glitter. The resulting flower symbolizes the 12 days of Christmas, the 12 months of the year, the 12 Apostles, the 12 Tribes of Israel, the 12 signs of the zodiac, and the 12 points of the compass.

The sides of the whorl have green leaves and red berries ringing the spindle and the New Year.

I hope that you enjoy this new Holiday Lollie!

Holiday Lollipops are 6 inches long, have a 2 inch diameter whorl, and weigh about an ounce.
